Cook Inlet Lending Center has been committed to serving Indigenous individuals, families, and communities since 2001. As a Native CDFI, we created our consumer lending programs to provide responsible lending options that support financial wellness.

Our consumer loans aren't just about providing access to capital. They're about creating pathways to financial stability and opportunity. Whether you're building credit for the first time, consolidating expensive debt, or covering an emergency expense, CILC offers consumer loan solutions designed to support long-term financial stability.

Eligibility

Consumer lending programs are available to eligible:

·         Alaska Native, American Indian, and Native Hawaiian individuals; and

·         Individuals living within Native Communities as designated by the U.S. Treasury CDFI Fund

To view eligible Native Communities, use the CDFI Fund’s CIMS mapping tool and select “2020 IA Eligible Native Areas.” Boundaries may change over time.

  • The Credit Builder Loan is designed for people who are new to credit or have little to no active credit history. This loan is not intended to repair damaged credit, consolidate debt, or provide immediate access to cash.


    Unlike a traditional loan, Credit Builder Loan funds are held in a secured account while you make monthly payments. After the loan is repaid, the funds are released to you. Monthly payments are reported to the credit bureaus to help you establish credit history.

    Program features:

    • Loan amounts up to $1,000

    • Funds held in a secured account until the loan is repaid

    • Payments reported to all three major credit bureaus

    • Borrowers may qualify for partial loan forgiveness through participation in financial coaching and successful repayment

  • A Fair, Affordable Option When You Need It Most

    Life does not always follow a budget. When unexpected expenses come up or high-interest debt starts to pile on, the Small Dollar Consumer Loan offers a regulated, lower-cost alternative to payday loans, title loans, and high-interest credit cards. Funds are disbursed directly to the borrower after loan approval.

    Program features:

    • Loan amounts up to $2,500

    • Loan funds can be used for emergency expense coverage, debt consolidation to escape expensive payday or title loans or essential purchases that can't wait

    • Loan amounts and terms designed for affordability and long-term financial stability

    • Credit history may be reviewed as part of the overall application review process.
